At one point, two teens kiss. My kids are all old enough to handle that now, but when I read this aloud a few of them were not. My kids are 11 and 13 years old. Should I be ready to turn it off in certain parts, just wondering what your "censorship on the fly" consisted of :) I assume it was teenage romance or something like that, I love the Penderwick series but I do wish they would just leave that out! :) Thanks! It is a small-sized book that we picked up at a secondhand bookstore. This was our first time to read it. It wasn't what I would call a terrific book, but my son did enjoy it. I haven't yet decided if I will save it for my preschool son to read when he is older or not.

I just read over my previous post and have to revise it a bit. :) I started reading "Of Mice and Men" before my daughter started it. I read it as a high schooler, but was shocked by the language I started running into just a few pages in. I decided that for now at least we won't read that one. Instead we are going to start "The Hiding Place" on Monday.Christyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18176455320261606187noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7628767515693863152.post-46126664822598653362017-10-03T19:43:57.876-07:002017-10-03T19:43:57.876-07:00Fabulous picks!! She thinks it's awful that I will make my son read it in a year or so. :) Like you though, I think he will really like it!Christyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18176455320261606187noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7628767515693863152.post-81761785522915751262017-10-03T19:36:48.453-07:002017-10-03T19:36:48.453-07:00Great picks! My freshman daughter is reading "An Old-Fashioned Girl" by Louisa May Alcott and will soon move onto "Of Mice and Men." My 5th grade son has just finished a Billy Graham biography and will start "Because of Winn Dixie" next week. My preschooler is reading books that coincide with our theme of the week for him. This week is sports and the next two weeks are farms and pumpkins. I loaded up on books for all three topics at the library last night! :)Christyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18176455320261606187noreply@blogger.com
